Germany by rail, boat and car

Cruise the Rhine, and drive Bavaria

Mad King Ludwig's Beautiful Folly near Fussen
My quick swing through Deutschland started out in Koln by train from Amsterdam, cruise down Rhine & then a "hop" to Frankfurt, driving Autobahn and the Romantische Strasse (Romantic Road) through Rothenburg down to Munich.

Most of my "quality time" was spent in and around Franconia, Bavaria, so please check my Rothenburg page for tips and details.

Next time I will set aside much more time for Germany, possibly even a special trip to Germany alone, as it was more beautiful, peaceful, historic, inspiring, and surprisingly affordable than I had imagined.

Pros:"Gorgeous countryside, much meaningful history, autobahn, the Rhine, Bavaria, German white wines, shnapps, and beer!"
Cons:"nein"
In A Nutshell:"Germany is most worthy of a trip of it's own"

Your warning tip is really funny. 'Schlagen sie es' (Beat it!) and 'Bumsen weg' (F*ck off!), that's hilarious!!! (just a side note : the right expression would be 'Verpiss dich!).
