Luggage and bags: Except for the "hot" clubs with aggressive doormen/bouncers, Amsterdam, unlike Paris, is a casual city, not requiring much dress-up, so pack light.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I've never needed an umbrella in Amsterdam
but I am told I am very lucky.

Everyone says, buy one there on the street, they are cheap.
I got 1 for 3 euros and never used it.

Smarter A'Dam locals say that wind will destroy your umbrella quickly and you are better off with a plastic/water-resistant, hooded light jacket when the weather is rainy/windy, and they are probably right. As many times as I have been to Amsterdam, I have been too fortunate weather-wise to test that theory myself.

Good walking shoes, but it is better and in my opinion smarter to rent a bicycle from frederic to enhance your experience and minimize walking.

Photo Equipment: Lots of film, batteries, or digital memory. Amsterdam offers hundreds of opportunities for photographers.
