Welcome to my home-town Hamamatsu city!

by misakitaguchi - last update: Oct 30, 2004

You might not know about Hamamatsu-city. But how about YAMAHA,SUZUKI,and HONDA?? These famous companies established here in Hamamatsu. The motorcycle and automobile industry are very important in Hamamatsu. It is also well know for musical instrument production. Many piano made in here and exporting as YAMAHA and KAWAI brands.
Hamamatsu city called by "City of Music". We have big piano competetion once every three years. And also we can watch ballet, orchestra and opera performances here.

What City like?

Hamamatsu is surrounded by nature. You can go river, mountain and sea easily. Many people enjoy fishing especially at Lake Hamana. And also enjoy marine sports as surfing, wake bording and body board etc. The climate is mild.I think I feel comfortable for living. We don't have snow in winter. But a strong wind blows called the "ENSHU KARA KAZE" which means the "dry wind of Enshu". Enshu is an old name for this part of Japan.
Hamamatsu is in the western part of Shizuoka prefecture.Shizuoka pre is located in central Japan. So which means,it's easy to access to go to Osaka and Tokyo.

Image of Hamamatsu city

There are 600,000 people living here in Hamamatsu. Not so small.not so big city but residents getting increase so Hamamatsu will be biggest city in the prefecture.
City bird= swallow
City flower=Hagi(Japanese bush cover)
City tree= pine
Hamamatsu is famous for eel. and motorcycle, automobile and piano which I already exprain in the above.
And Hamamatsu is also well known for international city. There are over 20.000 foreigner resident living here. You have many chance to speak several languages.

I've never been to Hamamatsu, but you certainly make it look appealing. Any newer pictures?

Hello Miffy from Hamamatsu ! Greetings from Jerusalem, with my face to Asia. I agree that traveling alone is the best way to meet new cultures. Cherry blossom is most beautiful. Cheers !
