Kalymnos has been existing in the shade of nearby Kos although it has a lot to offer. The island is not large but the fertile land is cut by short mountain ranges, which makes the landscape very interesting. Fortunately for us travellers, Kalymnos is not popular.
Please feel free to read and see my Kalymnos impressions. |

nafum Mon Apr 14, 2008 22:37 UTC Many sponges are inported from asai :-( HOWEVER - visit 1 of the 4 sponge 'factories' near the harbour - they still process Kalymnos harvested sponges - ask them for an honest answer. Always buy brown & unbleached - a LOT more durable eco-friendly. | matcrazy1 Sun Oct 22, 2006 22:26 UTC Interesting info on sponges and great use of hidden pictures. I doubt whether Kalymnos sponges were more expensive than those I saw in Rhodos :-) | nickandchris Tue Mar 14, 2006 12:26 UTC Just sorting my Dodecanese pics from the 80's. Nice to see your page on Kalymnos. |
