Kissamos, also known as Kastelli is a small town in North-West Crete, approximately 1 hour by bus from Chania.
I loved the atmosphere of the place - it's as messy as all small towns in Greece and full of unfinished houses. People here are very friendly and in May or early October there are not many tourists here. I generally think that Kissamos is not a major tourist attraction as far as package holidays are concerned: there's nothing really impressive to see here except for the stunning sea/mountain view.
For more (but not much more) information check this page on Kastelli |

| Pros: | "Quite place not far from Chania" | | Cons: | "No attraction for package holidays" |

nickandchris Fri Jul 1, 2005 13:03 UTC Enjoyed this page. Nowadays houses seem to be completed (with roof) on the top floor and they work downwards. This is certainly the case on the mainland. | gosiaPL Sun Feb 6, 2005 18:50 UTC Kissamos sounds like a nice holiday retreat, thanks for introducing it to me. It's high time I headed for Greece... maybe this year ;-) | Spincat Thu Sep 23, 2004 06:02 UTC I loved your pages - the Crete page, especailly this one, bought back good memories. i also liked the religious artefacts page - I have some interesting examples myself and from a number o f faiths.
