Memphis is a large city with plenty to do to keep you occupied. From West Memphis across the river to the casino's in Tunica south of Memphis you have a wide varitey of places to visit. From the nightlife of Beale Street to the to the day journies through Graceland it's a place for the young and old. Memphis is recognized as the home of Elvis Presley and as the birthplace of the blues.

HISTORY OF MEMPHIS

The earliest European settlement on the site of Memphis was the French Fort Assumption established in 1739. In 1818, a US treaty edged the Chickasaw nation out of western Tennessee, and Andrew Jackson helped found the settlement he named Memphis. The city was incorporated in 1826 and prospered on the expanding cotton trade of the fertile Mississippi Delta directly south.

Hi Jamie, Interesting pages on my hometown. Seems like you enjoyed your visit here. :-) The interstates are a bit confusing with all the Nashville, St. Louis, etc. signs. You found your way to Beale St. & Graceland. Well done. ;-) ~Elaine~

In Israel, people go visit the graves of old rabbis. In Memphis, people visit the grave of an old singer...

My boyfriend lives in Memphis and i visit often. I'm from philly so its a big change, but i still find the city really cool. Its laid back and the sites are nice. Beale street is cool. I've pretty much been all over, and i enjoy going back for each visit.
