Harrah's Louisiana Downs is a great place to go that offers all the gaming action you could want. There is live, thoroughbred horse racing Thursday thru Sunday along with a one level, 150,000 square foot casino that's opened 7 days a week. The casino offers over 1,400 slots, including 99% payback video poker from penny games to $100 high limit action.

There is also several great restaurants & bars including The Steakhouse & Grill, The Buffet, Pepper Rose Too, Louisiana Bread Company, Harrah's Club, Inside Rail and Fat Tuesday's.

You must be 21 to play in the casino and 18 to place bets at the race track.

Horseshoe Casino & Hotel in my opinion is by far the best gaming establishment in the Shreveport/ Bossier area. It not only offers the best gaming but the best accomodations as well. There is nearly 1600 slot machines on the floor, over 50 table games and 12 poker tables. They offer a great mix of Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker and Three Card Poker.

The four on-site resturants are excellant and include Jack Binion's Steak House, the Village Square Buffet, Four Winds and Oak Creek Cafe & Grille. I've tried them all and everyone of them is amazing.

The 25 story, 606 all suite hotel is awesome. There are two to three televisions in every room along with a marble bathroom and refrigerator. Very nice.

There is a spa, health club, lounge, entertainment venue and even a retail concourse with several stores.

The Louisiana Boardwalk just opened in May of 2005, however, all the attractions and stores are not all open at this time. It will offer retail, live performance theaters, theme restaurants, hotels, outdoor entertainment and more. The first tenant was Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and other tenants will include Hooter's, Great Steak & Potato Co., the Bridge Street Recording Studio, Joe's Crab Shack, Wallbanger's Dueling Pianos, The Violet Rose Theater, Cirque Sur Le Rouge and more. I'll let you know how this turns out once it's all said and done.

This is a very interesting place and the owner is extremely nice. There are live deer in the rear of the building and over 1,000 mounted animals in there life like natural habitat. Visitors can watch the painting and taxidermy of dioramas that are not yet finished. It also displays American Indian artifacts and memorabilia from the Civil War and World Wars I and II.

The Isle of Capri is a Caribbean themed Casino & Hotel. The 30,000 sq foot casino has 1099 slot machines & 33 table games featuring Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Mini-Baccarat, Pai-Gow Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker. The casino is not very nice but the hotel is great. Every room is appointed with amenities including in-room movies, three televisions in each room, data ports, coffeemakers and awesome jacuzzi tubs. You can choose between a King Suite or a Queen Suite. Both rooms have a small living area with chairs, TV and a desk. The colorful bathrooms are great with a large vanity area, TV, shower and telephone.

There's also child care center, arcade, swimming pool, several resturants including a buffet and room service.

Boomtowns Casino & Hotel has a riverboat casino with more than 1,250 slots and video poker machines, plus 33 table games. The restarants include 1800 Prime, Boomer's Café, Sundance Cantina and the Cattleman's Buffet. The Canitina is good but I haven't eaten at any of the other restaurants.

Boomtown's hotel features 188 guest rooms, including 4 themed suites and 88 garden suites. All rooms have cherry wood furniture and are complete with a sitting area with writing desk. The bathrooms feature marble and granite finishes. The suites have a jacuzzi tub, glass shower and a small refrigerator.

Party Central is a medium sized amusement center that features go-karts, an 18-hole mini-golf course, bumper boats, batting cages, kiddie rides and arcade games.
