The Oregon Coast

While traveling through Oregon I mainly only journied down the coast line. But what an amazing coastline it was. We were travelling from Washington down to the Redwood Forest in California and unfortunately we were unable to explore more of the natural beauty of Oregon. There's an interstate that pretty much runs down the entire west coast of Oregon. On one side was beautiful rain forest and on the other a steep hill leading down to the sandy beachfront. It's been a while since I was there, however, I can't imagine the air smelling any less pure than it did then or the ocean being any less beautiful.
Lush evergreen forests, picturesque coastal scenery, rugged cliffs, impressive sand dunes and vast sandy beaches are just a few of the amazing views along the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, US Highway 101. Oregon's 400 miles of beaches and dunes are all open to the public, offering endless vacation possibilities. Resorts, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and full service campgrounds are available all along the coast as well. Mild temperatures and dramatic scenery make this one of the state's most popular regions.
There are many recreational opportunities from fishing, cycling, flying a kite on the beach, scuba diving, hiking through old-growth forests, windsurfing and surfing, beachcombing, whale and bird watching. There are also many coast attractions including aquariums, art galleries, theaters and festivals, parades and poetry readings. Many lighthouses dot the Oregon coast and you'll find hundreds of parks to explore.
