A cold city in winter ;)

by Lucky79 - last update: Mar 20, 2003

Berlin is worth a visit. No one will argue with that. This multicultural metropolis seduces you with her stirring past, her thrilling present and her exciting future. The German capital offers an extensive number of classic sights as well as fascinating curiosities, such as the absence of any closing times. When the lights go out everywhere else in the Federal Republic, you can go on dancing away or plunge even deeper in Berlin’s night life. You won’t be able to be bored during the day either.
The Berlin experience is without parallel. Why not start by a stroll (or a rather more comfortable tour) through this fast changing city with her split history? The border between east and west has almost completely disappeared. Ever since the fall of the Wall this city has experienced a second ‘Gründerzeit’ (economic revival). Berlin’s face changes almost daily. Berlin is also a cultural capital. More than 160 museums invite you for a voyage of discovery through the world of the arts and of civilisations, of history and technology.
Every night the curtain is raised in three opera houses and more than 50 theatres. It’s impossible trying to keep count of the innumerable cultural initiatives: dance, variety shows, cabaret, classical concerts, jazz, rock, techno. Young people especially have conquered the city with their music clubs and parties. The yearly held ‘Love Parade’ is their showpiece. Shopping will provide you with a completely different kind of enjoyment. If it can be bought, you will find it in Berlin: haute couture, designer fashion, antiques, books, CDs or traditional knickknacks. As far as culinary delights are concerned, the whole world is in attendance in Berlin. There is more! In spite of her metropolitan elegance, this city has kept her small-scale atmosphere, and disposes of innumerable green spaces and lakes. At the end of an exciting stay each and every visitor has to admit enthusiastically: Berlin is worth more than a visit.
