"Budapest" Budapest by Etoile2B

Budapest is an ancient city and although it’s gaining in popularity it’s still an easy place to avoid the throngs of tourists that flock to Europe every year. After a long ride on the “Orient Express”, Patsy, Matt and I arrived sweaty and tired into Budapest from Vienna. The train’s air conditioning was on the fritz and it was a HOT summer in Europe. Thankfully our car was relatively empty so we took the time to catch up on a little rest, and meet fellow travelers. As we crossed the border into Hungary and drew near to Budapest the bookers for various hostels in the city bombarded our car, chatting us up and pitching their rooms for the night. Exhausted and sticky from the extreme heat, our resistance was low, so with the promise of a free ride and cheaper rates than quoted in the guide book we roped a fellow American tourist into out trio and booked a “private” quad room. We figured, if nothing else, we could check out the next morning and find better accommodations if necessary. Thankfully there was no need and we loved every moment spent in our hostel. Our time in Budapest was spent eating, drinking, exploring and dancing the nights away in a city we all quickly grew to love. The only regret I have from that trip was having to board the overnight train to Munich and leave when the time came.
