Things To Do: These were meant to kill people - not birds!
  • Tip Rating:
  • It's probably more humane to feed a pigeon Alka-Seltzer and watch them explode rather than have them killed by a nuke.

See what a nuclear missile looks like! It's nothing real special, something like a scaled down Saturn rocket from what I can tell. Here in Gotte Park you can see a decommissioned Titan I ICBM (Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile) given to the city of Kimball by SAC (Strategic Air Command).

Pigeons love this thing. It also spelled death for them as walking around the missile revealed to me three pigeon carcasses stuck in some of the metal structure at the bottom of the missile. They seemed to get their heads stuck at a narrow point - probably flapped themselves to death. If you see more or less - let me know. Just a morbid curiousity I have.

One dead pigeon can be seen in the lower right side of the picture I took.

It's great to see Kimball, and especially Panorama point on VT. I visited the point several years ago on a quest to hike to the highest peak in every state. Only completed 38 of them so far.
