Sports Travel: Watch the Rockies at Coors field

Coors field is home to the Major League Baseball Colorado Rockies. Being in the National League west division the most common opponents are the Dodgers, Giants, Diamondbacks, and Padres. The stadium is a brick throwback to the old style, oozing an aura that screams for a future legacy and excellent views of the Rocky Mountains at sunset. Tickets range from 3 to 40 dollars and can be purchased up to Game time at the stadium box office. Beer and other concessions on the other hand can be pretty expensive - expect to pay 5 to 6 dollars for a mass produced pint. The season runs from early April to the end of September. I always hope the Rockies extend this by going to the playoffs.

Equipment: Bring sunglasses at all times. You may want to bring sunscreen for those day games.

Sports Travel: Those Running and Gunning Nuggs
  • Tip Rating:
  • Theme: Sports Watching

Playing inside the Pepsi Center for home games are the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. The Nuggets are what you would call a "rebuilding" franchise. The General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe is building a product that is capable of both winning games and is also fun to watch. Utilizing Denver's rarified air the concept employed is to run the visitors up and down the court, and out of breath.

If the Nuggets keep it up this will be one of the hottest tickets in Denver.

Nosebleed seats start at 10 dollars a pop and work up to over 100 dollars for lower level. If you are in need of lower level tickets (for a price) that you are told are sold out to season ticket holders just look for the people outside who are "buying" tickets.

    Or ask me - I have a hook-up.

Equipment: They do perform a bag check at the gate. You are not allowed to bring food or drinks (including water) into the Pepsi Center.

Sports Travel: Denver the bike friendly city?
  • Tip Rating:
  • Denver - cycling near Confluence Park

I remember riding my bike to work in Portland. Yes the weather is not as good as Denver but in Portland when you are on a bike, you are a car if you believe you are a car. Denver has lots of bike paths, has beautiful weather, but I wouldn't dare ride my bike on the streets like I would in Portland.

In Denver it's the rule of the big. The bigger you are the more of a right you have. You will get pushed and intimidated off the road.

In Portland I would just kick the car door if they tried anything.

Equipment: A bike and a helmet.

Directions: All over Denver. Good bike paths run next to the South Platte River and Cherry Creek.
