One night to have Genova is not enough but one night is what I had. Something about this city made it so easy to find oneself, to navigate the unknown alley's and streets. A little bit of the ole' uphill-downhill contrast helps. |

| | So there I went wandering these old paths. Something about this place reminded me of Istanbul. Perhaps it was the narrow, dark alleys, the hills, the water. Or maybe it was the first time that I have wandered like this since Istanbul. This was a drinking vacation if ever there was one. From one espresso stand to the next I went - and yes they had booze. At one point I avoided a stand that had some police in it - because the hotel held my passport and I had no ID. It's not a worry - just walk no more than 100 meters and you will find another bar. And alcohol reduces inhibitions! So there I wandered down some areas that sober me would never go without a false sense of self-confidence. |

Your style of writing is delightful and so much fun to read. You certainly absorb the culture, don't you? All around great...both text and photos. | craic Wed Feb 16, 2005 05:55 UTC I found the prostituti - but they did not say prego. I found few spoke Italian. Two stations in Genoa is confusing, isn't it? |
