A medieval stronghold, this charming German city is surrounded by a stone wall. It's name stems from the fact that it is above the Tauber River, though come to think of it, I never did see the river. It seemed to be a very pedestrian-friendly city. And in the early evening, we ran into a small band playing Christmas tunes in the main square. |

| | I feel quite sure that the holes in the walls were used to pour boiling Nutella on the invaders. Well .. perhaps not. I imagine that Nutella was a luxury. Better chocolate on my a.m. toast than water to drink. |
Isn't this neat - the house was built into part of the wall. Now that's what I call practical! I definitely recommend walking the wall as it's a good way to get an overview of the entire town, as well as outside the town. Plus, if it's rainy, it's a good way to remain dry for a while. | | | a study in German efficiency |
