the "in" restaurant in madrid opened its doors less than two months ago, but its the new sensation. in spite of its 500m2, you have to book in advance on weekends. the modern decoration, permanent D.J. taking care of the music, and the projections on the walls, make the difference in this place.

this is not the first experience of the owners, "la musa" was their former creation, and they ahev applied the same succesful formula. great imaginative mediterranean cuisine with careful service and good wines.

they have a bar in the same locas as well as a dance floor where you can have a drink and the same good music

restaurant open tusdays to saturdays from 12.00 to 17.00 and 20.00 to 1.00. sundays open for brunch from 12.00 to 20.00

the bar is open tusdays to saturdays from 20.00 to 3.00

    17/10/2003

Favorite Dish: pigeon with orange and chocolate flavoured rice. i tried the other dishes of my coleagues and they were also delicious : slam carpaccio, small roasted chicken, and a fish cooked with some aromatic herbs... the desserts tiramisu and specially the chesse ice cream were also wonderful

perfect for a long business lunch

place out of the tourist track. they lack a wide diversity of wines, but the quality of the food is good. crowded every weekend with locals, try not to go there when there is a "real madrid" match, coz you are going to feel like in the underground at peak time (as i did this ver saturday)

good service, and very funny manager. nice atmosphere, u can drop a line in this bar ;-)

it s near "avenida del brasil", a very well known nightlife area, so its a good place to have something before a long night

Favorite Dish: big circular bread with spanish ham and melted brie cheese ...

it s not a famous restaurant, but one of those you know because is near your workplace, so i m used to its daily lunch menu/10 euros, good price/quality spanish cook

try the rosemary cheese (strong taste!) the fungus with ali-oli sauce (kind of garlic mayonnaise) the t-bone or any of the fine juicy rice dishes

you should book at lunch time ...

i think they dont open sunday, monday, wednesday and thursday nights ...

    open from 13 to 16 and 21 to 24

    03/11/2003

Favorite Dish: the juicy rice with fungus and fish necks. it sounded so rare that i couldnt help trying it, and it was fantastic i think they only prepare these rice dishes for two people or more, so take care with this. we usually ask for 3 rations being 4 people ... and we always end fed up!

the best thing of this japanese restaurant is that it isopen on thursday till 2.30 a.m. and offers 3 menus of sushi with cava (the fantastic spanish equivalent to champagne) at 15 euros.

the restaurant itself , not big, is very cozy, and they have a small bar in the entry.

the food is correct, and they have some good wines specially whites. they have an australian, i think called wallick, 2002, that was really fine (but it cost 24 eur...)

    04/11/2003

Favorite Dish: sushi with cava is fine at late night, specially being this restaurant close to the avenida del brasil nightlife area ...

basque restaurant in the center of madrid where we had a company xmas dinner. be prepared for some starters: foie, shrimps, puff paste, chistorra (basque fried sausage), jamon iberico (spanish ham), roasted fish ... after that, the first main course, merluza a la vasca (i dont remember the english name of this fish) and a second one, chuleton (t-bone). of course you have to try the desserts and a basque liquor called pacharan (fine kind of anissette)

this is an advise. dont think this amount of foof is only because of Xmas. it s not too much for these basque people, as everytime i go dinner to a basque restaurant it s alike

the dinner was expensive, but it was a gastronomic tour. now it s midday, and feel my stomach like that of a japanese sumo fighter

    18/12/2003

Favorite Dish: the t-bone was the best one i ve had in years

this restaurant is not crowded with tourists, is well far from the center of the city, so you will meet only local people. i have been tempted not to discover this place, maybe the next time i go there will be crowded, but it s really a pearl

the dishes are fabulous, and they are constantly inventing new ones. we celebrated our football team xmas lunch there. i dont know how to translate these dishes into english sorry, but for the spaniards who read this probably will get their mouth melt ... mejillones en salsa de puerros, habitas tiernas con foie queso brie y esparragos, mero a la salsa de cava, carpaccio de atun acompa?ado de huevo picado espuma de salmorejo y pate de aceitunas negras, solomillitos de cerdo iberico a la pimienta, ciervo a la pimienta verde ...

the price ... 35 euros but, well, we began at 2.30 at end at 6 P.M. and ate like beasts, acomponied by "a couple" (ejem ... ) of Ribera del Duero wine bottles, fine desserts, coffes and pacharanes (basque liquour). but normally would be 15-20 euros

    21/12/2003

Favorite Dish: las habitas con foie esparragos trigueros y queso brie fundido ... ýam ýam :-) i dont know how to translate "habitas" into english. i think should be something like green soft beans with asparagus, foie and melted brie cheese

and dont forget the deer with green pepper sauce
