Once Upon a Time in Mexico...City

by morgane1692 - last update: Feb 22, 2004

From 19 floors above the madding crowds...

MEX or GRU, can you tell?!
we had all of Ciudad de Mexico before us. The legendary choking, sooty, near-opaque pollution really wasn't too much in evidence. Just a little brown haze off at the far horizon, that's all. You know, I never would have thought of Mexico City on my own. But when wknd plans for Buenos Aires deteriorated due to toooo-heavy flightloads, the man suggested this town and I said You Got It. ;-)))
waiting for Turibus, you sneak any pic op you can!

...to the very madness at streetlevel itself...

where we found actual calm and peace in the churches and museum and restaurants, or around the very next corner, the chaos and sardine-can pressure of this most populated city on the planet.

Dawn over the Metropolis

Moonrises, moonsets, they're all cool. And when you think that this is the exact same moon which you watch in your hometown night sky, that your friend 10,000 miles away watches, that the Aztecs and Thomas Jefferson and William Shakespeare and the Cavemen all watched as well, it tends to get you all deep and philosophical. It should, anyway.
our last morning in town, awwwww...

Pros:"close to home, for us, yet an entire world away!"
Cons:"so busy, so frenetic, hmmm those can be pro's too!"
In A Nutshell:"an underrated gem, discover it for a wknd and you'll be back!"
