and the Girl Scouts in their striped leggings are going nuts around the Grand Place, then I must be in the middle of my 48hr whirlwind visit to the Groovy Capital of Europe here! Any amount of time in Brussels is a good thing, of course, but even a brief respite is made more enjoyable with such a premier amigo and guide (and did we mention, chef extraordinaire???) to show me the city's hidden gems. Especially on a Sunday, when so many of Europe's showier gems are...closed?!

The outdoor cafe may be closed for the time being, the car may be, mmmm, out of commission, and oh my!!! the refrigerator may be down as well, but that doesn't mean...

...you can't enjoy those awesome homemade meal-experiences inside. Chefs extraordinaire are by their very nature, quite resourceful. The results of these endeavors with "so little to work with" are still very much "ridiculously" entertaining and delicious. If you didn't know better, you'd think you were in Equador or Santander or even along E. Bay St. in funky-colonial Charleston, SC. Mmmmm, you can still smell and taste the tang of that coconut milk pasta sauce. Muy bueno.
