It hardly does Stirling Castle justice to say it was "just a stop" during a daytrip out of Edinburgh. As with every other fabulous fortress I've had the great privilege to wander through, across the United Kingdom and France, this one brought out the imaginative romantic in me. The winter wind blew strong across the Highlands this December day and it wasn't much warmer inside, but I loved it. So much history, the great and the tragic, had occurred where I stood, on the valley floor that I looked out upon. Lucky me again.
