From the personal experience of my traveling companion, you need to be very wary in the metros: those crafty little punks with the sticky fingers are everywhere! To a lesser degree however, I'd still be careful around guillotines if I were you! You may also introduce any pickpockets you encounter *to* the guillotine, then maybe they won't try their game on anyone else in the future!!

no real danger here, these guys are just pesky like a swarm of bees...but they're easy to spot in advance, just ignore them, don't make eye contact, walk away from them, whatever you do though, DO NOT buy their junk. Postcards and trinkets can be had for much less money at any of a number of souvenir shops in town!!

If you're in the mood for a lovely steak or homemade hamburger, be wary of the butcher shops which have these sort of outside decorations and a big sign which proclaims "CHEVAL" is sold inside! Just beware if you have an aversion to horsemeat that is, otherwise, bon appetit. :)

As in most major cities, the traffic in Paris takes on a life of its own. When you're a pedestrian, you'd best try to cross the streets at officially marked paths. Mind the gap. Look right. Look left. Several times. And thank your stars when you realize you've made it to the other side of the boulevard in one piece. Then again, when you're a passenger in a car, you must also hope for the best. Aboveground and in those tunnels. Best of luck to you!
