Even if you only have a day or two in Rio, you are fairly obligated to make your way up to the top of impressive Sugar Loaf mountain. The views are to die for. For your R$30 ticket price you get a round trip ride on the cable car and room and time to explore and see and remember enough for a lifetime. Do it.

You know you're getting close to Rio as soon as your friend and driver points out the Redeemer statue off in the far distance upon your highway approach. So as soon as you check in to your hotel and do some oooh-ing and ahhhh-ing from your oceanside balcony, you jump back in your car and head to Corcovado. R$30 for the choo-choo-train ride to the top includes the bonus armed guard onboard. No kidding. When you step off the escalator and wander over to the railings around Christ's feet, here's your reward, this heavenly vista of Sugar Loaf and all of Rio, all around you. Do it.
