My introduction to Budapest

by Mique - last update: Mar 17, 2005

Statue to commemorate the Hussars
(2003) Until recently Budapest wasn't very high on my list of cities to visit although i wanted to visit it one day. But when my travels to Romania made it easier to land in Budapest, we decided to stay several days here and get acquainted with the city. And the city is amasing. Much more so then i expected. I should have gone here years before. It has a bit of Paris, but also has its own unique ambiance. And there are monuments and beautiful buildings everywhere! I couldn't stop making pictures..

It is a very big city, but when you're in the centre you don't notice it as much. Until you stand near the Citadel and see the city go on and on..

With Buda being hilly and dominated by the palace and Mathias church and Pest being flat and having the beautiful parlement building and the Synagoge and the St. Stephens Basilica on its side.. you have all you want..
After having spend there around 4 days i still haven't seen half of it. Things like the train station build by Eiffels architect buro and the Jugenstil of the Museum of Art are still things i still need to see for rmyself..

(2005) have just returned here for a day and a half. And still stand by my former assasment of the city.
