"Maramures in the snow" Judetul Maramures by Mique

We, 2 friends and me, decided to make a trip from Oradea to Maramures. It was early march and the weather was extremely cold but that didn't hold us back. Of course we under estimated the travel. It started well with us standing waiting for the minibus for an hour in a snowstorm at Oradea station and when we were back we had spend most of our time in some sort of transport or waiting for it. But still the final conclusion must be that it was worth it. After all, it was fun traveling with the girls and besides, just seeing the happy cemetary was worth the trip. But i must add that it isn't the easiest region in Romania to travel in with public transport and that is saying something...

The old woman in teh picture has the traditonal (sunday?) costume and i so had to take a picture with her. When she new where we all came from we all got a very big hug and kisses. But that was also probably since we were the only visitors for a while i think.. It must be more of a tourist attraction in summer. In winter it is harder to get to Sapanta. we had to hitchhike on that sunday since there were no buses. On the way from Sigheti it wasn't such a problem but back was another adventure..

• Cons:Not the easiest region to travel in with public transport
• In a nutshell:Very nice to visit if you have a few days and a car...
