This part is most famous for its beautifully painted monasteries and of course we had to check it out. We is me and some travel companions i had met in Brasov, Sharon and Helen both from Australia but who had never met before Brasov and Kevin and Kate from the UK.

We did hire a car and had a brillian day out. Though i have to admit, after 4 monasteries we had seen enough of them for a day. I'll get back there though and will visit some other, lesser known ones for sure.

I had planned to visit these monasteries in spring 2005 but i was already here in autumn 2004. Funny how travel plans... more travel advice
