Driving the car back from the Bordeaux region to the Netherlands, i decided to take my time and break it up in an etappe of 3 - 4. I had 4 days left before i needed to be back at my work again and this way i could keep to the smaller routes and decide to stop whenever i found something that caught my fancy. |
|  | And when i came up to Rochechouart i saw that incredible castle. So i stopped and took a picture. But as soon as i saw the signs 'chateau' i knew i had to check it out. So i did. Though it wasn't just the castle that attracted me, the name Rochechouart was also very appealing. And i must admit, i have visited places just because the name struck a chord.
Since there was a deviation and i apparently had missed the short-cut to the castle, i eventually parked on the square near the church and walked up to the castle because i can assure you that driving a Landrover V8 Discovery isn't the easiest thing to do in an an old town.... Especially when half the roads are a no-go area.. . |

| | The castle is the museum of contemporary art and althoug it is less a visiting castle, i really enjoyed walking around.
