Whistler, a four-season destination | A Gray Jay on the top of Whistler Mountain |
Welcome to Whistler! Mainly known as a first class ski resort, I can tell you it's much more than that. In the summer it turns into a hikers and mountain bikers paradise! This beautiful place is located in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, just 110 km/69 miles north of Vancouver. This is a charming four-season destination nestled between world-renowned Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.
In recognition of its world-class status as a ski resort, the cosmopolitan Village of Whistler will co-host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games with Vancouver. Enchanting Whistler continues to be the fastest-growing municipality in BC, and has been recognized as the Top Ski Resort in North America for the past decade.
This place is great to visit in any season. Visit in from late spring to early fall for some great hiking experience, water sports, golfing, mountain biking and so much more! Whistler in the Summer! This place is fantastic in the summer (or from late spring till early fall) as you can do mountaintop dining, hiking, sightseeing, nature tours and even skiing or snowboarding on Blackcomb's Horstman Glacier. There are 4 great golf courses, 5 wonderful lakes and numerous rivers that offer a multitude of water sports and leisure activities.
Other activities that you can do here are tennis, biking, horseback riding, fishing, summer skiing, enjoy the mountain bike park and even heli-hiking. The climate is pretty mild at this time of the year and wonderful to enjoy all of the above activities. |
| Whistler Mountain in the winter |
Whistler in the Winter! In the winter Whistler is packed with snow and gives you the opportunity to do almost any kind of winter sport or activity. Whistler is a very popular resort in North-America and is well known for it's great skiing/snowboarding. This is because it has the greatest vertical and most skiable terrain in North America.
Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort has the largest ski area on the continent: over 28,000 hectares (7,000 acres) of ski and snowboard terrain, with over 200 marked trails, 12 massive Alpine bowls, 3 glaciers, and 33 lifts. Whistler Mountain has an elevation of 7,160 feet/2,182 m and Blackcomb has an elevation 7,494 feet/2,284 metres. You can bring your own gear or rent it in Whislter. You'll find everything here that you need. |
