Welcome to beautiful Jasper National Park, Alberta

Beautiful Jasper National Park revisited!!

Beautiful Spirit Island in Maligne Lake
%The last time we visited Banff National Park was at the end of September - beginning October of 2006. During this visit we enjoyed the beautiful fall time in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We had sunshine, snow, rain and some days were cold. But it was such a rejuvenation trip and I got the chance to take some awesome early morning shots!

Jasper is the largest and most northerly National Park of the four Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks. Its scenery is stunning, with wonderful mountain scenery, many waterfalls, beautiful blue lakes and so much more. You will travel along the Icefields Parkway, I've read somewhere that it is one of the most scenic and beautiful highways in the world. And I do think it is...the scenery along the highway is just breathtaking, you will agree with me if you have been here!

Some place that you definately don't want to miss are:

*Maligne Lake : Maligne Lake, the largest in Jasper National Park (22 km/13.7 miles). It's one of the most beautiful sights in the Rockies with a day-use area, boat trips and hiking trails.
*Athabasca Falls : These falls roar through a narrow canyon with a height of about 12 meters (36 feet) are worth a visit.
*Mount Edith Cavell : This mountain can be reach by the 15km Edith Cavell Road. Here you have superb views of 3,363m/10,089 ft Mount Edith Cavell. There's also a beatutiful lake and some hiking trails. Here you can hike to Angel Glacier and other trails.
Angel Glacier and Cavell Pond

High mountains and tons of glaciers

In this National Park you will see lots of glaciers. The most famous one is the Athabasca Glacier at the Columbia Icefields. The mountain scenery in this park is also unreal, with a breathtaking views wherever you look. Look at Mount Edith Cavell at 3,363m/10,089ft reflected in Cavell Lake...Jasper's Lake Louise, they say. Here is a lovely hiking trail which also has a beautiful glacier called "Angel Glacier".

In Jasper National Park there is a great choice of hiking trails, from easy to difficult and from 1 hour to a day or more, but each trail offers beautiful views and offers lots of chances to see wildlife. This park can be pretty crowded too, but not as crowded as Banff National Park.

For some reason I have a feeling that Jasper is much more natural and pure when it comes to nature! It's also one of the best places in the Canadian Rockies to see wildlife more frequently. Really a great National Park to visit. Even though it might not be as popular as Banff National Park, the views, scenery, wildlife and much more are definitely just as nice as Banff National Park .

Wildlife, you'll see it here for sure!

If you don't get a chance to spot wildlife in the other National Park you will definitely see some in Jasper National Park. This park is a little less crowded and has great hiking trails that bring you into the wilderness where you might encounter some wildlife. The most seen wildlife here are Elk, Moose, Caribou, Mountain Goats and Big horn Sheep. There is also a pretty good chance that you might see a cougar, a Black Bear or even the Grizzly Bear.

DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS, they can be very dangerous!!! When you go camping you have to make sure that you don't leave any food hanging around, put it in your car or hang it up in a tree so the bears can't reach it. Don't even feed the smallest animal, although I am sure you'd love too...it's better if you just leave them in their own world and disturb them as little as possible. Take pictures and leave footprints only...that's the best way to go!

Pros:"The scenery won't let you down, the lakes are beautiful, the wildlife is abundant and there is so much to do! Unspoiled nature like you can't imagine!"
Cons:"The popular attractions will be busy in the summer, so if you want to avoid crowds visit the places before 10.30am or after 3.00pm"
In A Nutshell:"Breathtaking scenery with towering mountains, bleu lakes, thick glaciers and so much more"

Hello Ann75 I recently had visited Maligne Lake and had shopped at a gift store in the chalet. I was wondering if there is a phone # or a website that I can contact to order some items I had seen in the store. Please email me back. Thank you.
