First time Birstonas was mentioned in 1382 in crusaders chronicles. Already in 14th century here wooden castle stood. When battle of Grunewald (Zalgiris) was won and crusaders stopped attacking Lithuanian Duchy, Birstonas still haven’t lost importance. It got known as a hunting palace for dukes.

In the middle of 19th century place (1846) here healing mineral water was found, place got popularity among people of that time Tzarist Russia. In First World War Birstonas was devastated, but thanks to Lithuanian Red Cross reborn again.

Nowadays it is silent resort with wide spectrum of water and mud procedures.

    Raimis, another fantastic new little page of your recent trips around Vilnius. I especially like the Partisan Monument and the Vytautas park. The private guesthouse seems to be a real good find. Well done.
