Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen together with Prague and Krakow.
Bupapest s very old city, dated from the Ancient Rome times, then there a city Acquincum was built (still exist some remains). In medieval times this place was one of the biggest cities in Europe. About 150 years ago Budapest was not Budapest at all, but divided into three parts - Buda, Pest and Obuda. Later, at the end of XIX century, these three cities joined each other and became one big destination.
Buda is an historical place of Budapest with old town, Buda castle, gothic Matthias church and much more.
Pest is newer part of city with Cathedral, Parliament, and Heroes square.
The border of these parts (Buda and Pest) is river Danube and fascinating long bridges.
Budapest offers much to see and enjoy - great architecture, friendly people, and still not big prices.

ShelleyKeating Thu Mar 13, 2008 02:30 UTC You have wonderful pages and beautiful photos, have enjoyed your pages:):) G'day from Sydney | matcrazy1 Sun Mar 11, 2007 02:10 UTC I am glad you enjoyed Budapest a lot. Many very good suggestions including less known Szentendre and Visegrad. I didn't know the metro in Budapest is the oldest in continental Europe. | yumyum Sun Feb 11, 2007 18:09 UTC Very good page, Raimis! I didn't like this city I think it was too hot, too much traffic and an incomprehsible language. Besides I didn't plan to come here, so I had no guide book :( Maybe I should make another attempt one day. | pascalzeller Tue Jul 11, 2006 18:23 UTC Aalen is in South Germany and Budapest is in Hungary!! Two totally different countries!Maybe that explains the long drive ;-) |
