For most of us the images of the war in former Yugoslavia were just images. At the time of the war I was interning with the UN working on the evacuation of critically wounded civilians to Italy. This summer I had the chance to attend a conference in Mostar, a city that was once ethnically integrated. Today, it is a city still in post-intensive care and very divided. Almost eight years after the war?s end, the scars on the city are slowly healing, but the damage done to it?s citizens seems inoperable.

Fascinating.
I hope Mostar will one day be restored to at least part of its former glory. We were booked to go there in 1992, but never got there......
Good to see that life is coming back to normal here. good page.
Never heard of the place. Fascinating insights. That's one thing you can see all over Europe - the signs of former conflict.
The bridge (across the river of Neretva) has its story, it was pulled down in order to deceive NaziGerman troops. Across that bridge, after it was pulled down, the partisans have rescued 4000 wondeds.
nel 2004 vengo a guardare le updates! datti da fare!
