This summer on a five week trip to Egypt I spent a little over two weeks in Cairo, almost 10 years since my last visit.
The one thing that was truly differnt, besides the increased presence of police and other security were all the tourists! Fortunately staying in a small place with a scary elevator in Talaat Harb kept me away from the unwashed massess yearning to buy tacky tourist tat and fighting for first place at the buffet line! |
| | Intensity One of the things that draws me to cities like Cairo is the intensity which you can experience during the day. An environment like that of Cairo makes me really feel alive as all senses are stimulated - they better be working or you will finish under a cart hauling chickens! |
| | Meet the Mubaraks! Although many associate it with an authoritarian not very democratic state, I love seeing all the representations of Hosni and Susan Mubarak around town. I am on the search for a commemorative coffee cup or plate. |
