Arnhem - A Bridge Too Far Arnhem is the site of the John Frost Bridge over the Rhine River, the "Bridge Too Far" of the WWII Operation Market Garden. It is a great place to visit, but driving can be confusing because of the twists and turns of the streets. The bridge is named for the Commander of the British Paratroop Battalion that took the bridge in 1944 and held it against German Armor units. Unfortunately, the relieving British Armor units did not make it to Arnhem in a timely manner, and LtCol Frost and his men were defeated. |
