Flagship Store - Covent Garden

Ted Baker: Affordable British Designer of Stylish Clothes Covent Garden / Jubilee Market Review

Probably my favourite designer clothes store, Ted Baker is now rated as one of the world's top ten most successful retailers in a survey by Oxford University and KPMG.

He has definitely come a long way since starting as a humble shirt designer in Glasgow, launching his first menswear range in 1988...

This particular shop that I have featured is the original flagship store set over two levels, with another large store just around the corner on Floral St, which is a mecca for the trendier designer labels.

What to buy: One of the main pleasures of buying Ted Baker clothes are the sheer quality and textures of the materials used. The shirts 'feel' like luxury on your skin using such synthetic textiles as Polynosic, Modal, Polyamide and Lycra to produce apparel that hugs your skin like velvet...

Or at least the things I buy anyway... ;-)

There is a formal line called 'Edward Baker' that deals in stylish suits and ties, though a lot of it is a bit garish for my tastes...

The Ted Baker Woman range is also really funky and definitely looks good walking down the street towards you... ;-)

The Langley Court shop is also where most of the sale merchandise seems to go, so there is a real chance you can get a good bargain here.

Bottom line is that there is ALWAYS something in these shops that I want to buy.

One of Ted Baker's closest contemporaries would be Paul Smith, who has a shop just around the corner from the shop I've featured here in Floral St

What to pay: Probably the same sort of price range as say CK, but the quality of the material is far superior than just bunging a CK logo onto a t-shirt or jeans...

Address: 1-2 Langley Court, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9JY

Directions: Just west of Covent Garden - there is another less than 50yds away on Floral St. Map: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=530236&Y=180967&A=Y&Z=1
