Actually Silverton itself is 'Off the Beaten Path', but anyway...

The Mundi Mundi Plains are a desolate tract of inhospitable land stretching off as far as the eye can see.

It was here that the bulk of Mad Max II was filmed, and the road pictured is where the 'on-road' chase scenes were filmed.

Ironically if you follow the road off to the left of the picture you end up at one of Broken Hill's reservoirs - though it was practically empty due to the two year drought that has been gripping the region...
