'Mode': AROUND
Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: This is the travelator between the Domain Car Park and Hyde Park. It is a fantastic short cut if you're walking from Woolloomooloo (the suburb just E of the CBD and between the CBD and King's Cross) because as well as being about 300m long, it also takes you up the hill. It is warm in winter and dry when it's raining - call me lazy (well, OK I am - so what!?) but I use this every day to, er, 'walk' to work... :-)
The Artwork in the tunnel is called, somewhat unsurprisingly, 'tunnel vision' and is a mural running it's length which is a mixture of comtemporary and Aboriginal art forms.
The Woolloomooloo pedestrian/car entrance to the underground car park is through Sir John Young Crescent - just walk through the car exit and walk to the back and up the stairs.
The Hyde Park pedestrian entrance is on the NE corner of the park by Prince Albert Rd - there is another entrance on the other side of the road by St Mary's Cathedral. The other car entrance is behind St Mary's Cathedral on St Mary's Rd.
The car park itself is quite large and is also the home of Dollar car rentals. It is extremely easy to get to, being just off the Eastern distributor, which is one of the two main north/south routes in Sydney.
It is an excellent place to park for such sights as the Art Gallery of NSW, the Domain, St Mary's Cathedral (largest in Australia), Hyde Park and the Museum of Australia.
