Kotor | The fortification system of Kotor |
The old town of Kotor is one of the best-preserved medieval towns I've ever visited. It was succeeded in preserving its original form typical of towns between the XII and the XIV century. Kotor is in the the UNESCO’s “The world natural and cultural inheritance” list thanks to its asymmetric structure of the narrow streets and squares, combined with the numerous valuable monuments of medieval architecture. The fortification system of Kotor, which protects it from the sea, is actually a wall 4.5 km long, 20 m high and 15 m wide, and is preserved as one of the world’s historic values. |

Iteris Mon Apr 4, 2005 22:06 UTC A lot of pictures like these encouraged me to go to Kotor as part of a trip in Oct 2004. A fascinating place, although it was a bit rainy and dull, it meant it was cool enough to climb the ancient walls - the 'HIGHlight' of the tour. | joernme Fri Sep 3, 2004 11:45 UTC Loved Kotor as well and the entire Montenegrian coast, too. Lucky you, you can just almost swim over there.... | AndreSTGT Tue Dec 9, 2003 18:39 UTC Kotor is a real gem! Very nice page here! | Prasnjavi Sun Dec 7, 2003 11:40 UTC I Vesna said that this is the great page, I don't have anything to add. |
