The concentration camp

In Dachau, one of the most famous SS concentration camp is located.

Nowadays, the camp is preserved as a memorial to the thousands of people who suffered and died there at the hands of the Nazis.

For a short history of the camp see in 'general tips' section.

Visiting it, it's a really educational and impressive experience.

I recomend to visit Dachau to anyone going to Munich.

In the pic: the entrance gateway with the cruelly misleading inscrption 'arbeit macht frei' i.e. 'freedom through work'

Five star page. You cut everything down into each important part in digestible pieces of information. A very important page.

Ho visitato Dachau l'estate scorsa. C'erano molti studenti chiassosi a cui non interessava niente dei morti. E' un posto che fa riflettere. Andando con la S-Bahn, il bus per il KZ era gratis. Se vuoi, puoi guardare la mia pagina.

Wonderful pictures...fascinating place. It's amazing to me how different it is from Auschwitz. Not a place I want to visit but perhaps a place I feel I should--or must--visit. Thanks for sharing your impressions.

Fascinating page...this happened because good men did not stand up to dictators.

I looked through some of the images and was interested in the cell for religious prisoners. This altar is a modern construction. There was a chapel in Block 26. The original dachau altar is now on display in Berg Moriah Schoenstatt near Koblenz

I would hope that we would learn from the past but it seems as though history keeps repeating itself.
