Stone Mountain Village is a weird place - it's a small theme park based around Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain itself is the biggest exposed mass of granite in the world (according to it's own website!). It is quite a size. On the side of the mountain is a carving - very impressive, however somewhat disturbing in my mind as it's been a focal point for different peoples for many thousand years - why should we spoil natures beauty - guess I'm just being a little narky this evening! The Martin Luther King Center is a well presented documentation of the Civil Rights Movement. It is hard to believe now that 30-40 years ago, Americans did not live equally and that people like Martin Luther King had to really fight for his and others rights. The Martin Luther King Center is an inspirational place to visit - if you're in Atlanta take a morning or afternoon of your time to visit this place.

Usual type of State Capitol building. Pretty centre in Atlanta. The building has an impressive dome and various statues around the building. I can't comment on the inside as they were closed when I visited - not that the signs were indicating that! The website below gives a good idea of everything to do with this building.

small you say? I c u did not had the opportunity of seeing the whole park. The park is actually lrge. If you had just gone to the Stone mountain, there is actually another end of the park where there is paddle boat, cruises, hiking, bird trailing etc. | tpangelinan Fri Mar 4, 2005 03:05 UTC
