San Francisco

Enter San Francisco

Looking towards the Golden Gate Bridge
Well actually I got to San Francisco by aeroplane and it didn't go past the Golden Gate area, however the first Europeans to San Francisco entered the Bay Area through the Golden Gate - obviously the bridge wasn't there at the time.

I hope you enjoy my first image of San Francisco - a classic view!

After arriving about 1pm the first thing I did after checking in was to get a bus out to the Golden Gate bridge area - the views were stunning, the weather was warm and with hardly any wind at all. I felt very lucky to be able to view the bridge in these conditions!

Enjoy the evenings

The weather in August 2003 was excellent during my visit.

This was the sunset view of San Francisco during my first evening.

Union Square

Union Square is quite a busy place - lots of interesting shops, the old fashioned cable-cars ride up and down Powell Street to the left of the square and there is often an Art Fair or something going on during the weekends.

It's also a great place to just hang out with plenty of places to eat out at and lots of accommodation near by (from the Youth Hostels to the St Francis!).

This picture was taken from the top floor Macy's (The Cheesecake Factory).

I hope this little taster of San Francisco will suffice for now - lots of tips will follow soon!

You're right, a walk across Golden Gate Bridge is a must. Much better than driving. Really enjoyed your page!

Hi Martin, thanks for stopping by. Your panorama pics are stunning. Since you love brown cheese, it is time to befriend VTers who live in Norway ;-) All those cute English cottages bring back a lot of memories.
