In my youth, I was lucky enough to get to travel a lot. These days, I don't travel so much, except for business. Instead, I am really excited to have found this site and read about everyone elses travels. I love to learn about new places and cultures. It is also fun to see other people's comments about places I have been and compare experiences.
I am an American, bilingual in French and English. I learned French initially through high school and majored in French in College. During my junior year, I studied abroad in Besançon, France and met my future husband who is Algerian (Kabyle). I hope to meet members in the Francophone world and communicate in French or English.
I have a degree in Jazz Saxophone and really love world music. I don't get to perform much anymore because I grew up and had to get a real job, but I still play the piano for myself at home. Since I have family in Algeria, I have recently discovered Rai and am quickly becoming a big fan.
I am a true cat lover. I collect pictures and statues of lions. My dream vacation would be an African Safari where I could see lions in their natural habitat. I am fascinated by lions because they are so beautiful and so powerful at the same time. I guess I would like to think of myself in the same way. In a sense, their existance is my role model.
My husband is what he calls a "mordu de foot" which means he is crazy about soccer (football to those outside the US). I have to admit that, while I am not much of a sports fan, I really get into the world cup every four years. To me, it's not just the game, but to see all the languages and cultures from around the world get together with a common interest is really exciting. My husband is naturally a fan of the French teams, because he lived in France for several years. I, however am a fan of anyone with great muscles and gorgeous hair so I am attaching a picture of Rustu Recber, the goalie for Turkey's world cup team.
