"capri - eternal sunshine!!" Capri by papul

the first time i had heard of capri was in a short story by w. somerset maugham - The Lotus Eaters. And its description abt how one could just settle down here had fascinated me. and so from sorrento we headed to capri and anacapri. beautiful!!! a little town square where locals gathered every evening for coffee, gossip and updates. all i could see beautiful villas perched from every possible place over-looking the blue mediterranean. and old rich men in their strange golf-buggy like cars with beautiful young ladies travelling up and down the road... hmmm... criteria 1 - you need to be rich, like seriously rich to settle down in capri. the funicular railway is a great way to view the island of capri. it takes you to the peak and there you get spectacular view. it takes your breath away.

anacapri - the bell tower

a short walk from capri is the commune of anacapri. cheaper and larger than capri... the streets seemed wider... the usual souvenier shops line the streets. a beautiful clock tower stands in the commune square. i was there briefly there on a day visit... and wished i could have stayed back... but then again i had to head back to sorrento... some good eating places on the way to anacapri from capri...

blue oh so blue!!

i have not seen something so beautiful and surreal ever!! its magical!!! we got off our big boat to get into smaller row-boats, with singing sailor!! italian love songs as we laid back to fit into the grotto entrance. And then it was MAGIC!!!! so blue so blue so beautiful! i wish i knew how to swim as i was dying to jump into the blue waters. there is a ledge inside the grotto where emperor nero used to sit/dive from, during his night swims... there was a green grotto, which i could not go to...
