Here is a city that has a little of everything. Well, almost everything. Richmond is a multi-ethnic community, with many cultural attractions. The 2 sister cities of Richmond are: Wakayama-shi, Japan and Pierrefonds, Quebec. What is a sister city. It's a program that promotes development and expansion of international relations through cultural exchange programs. From schools to businesses. Basically, to enhance friendship and mutual understanding.

With ties to the Far East, Richmond has a high Orietal influence. From restaurants to malls and temples it will cater to almost all asian flavors.

But, the history of Richmond starts off with the First Nations People. Salish Nation that was known to come to the island and fish and gather berries. In the 1860's Europeans started to settle and farm the land. Aside from farming and fishing the other industries that can now be found here are in the manufacturing and the hightech industry.
