the area around aix-en provence in southern france is one of my favourite places so far.
i have chosen to put all of my destinations around provence onto this one page. unfortunately my photos of aix itself have disappeared so youll have to take my word for it.
we stayed in aix itself which is a very pleasant, lively town with a real sense of culture. the markets that take place every other day are a treat to see and smell the many traditions of this region.
there are endless day trips which are possible whilst being based in aix.
the general feeling i got was of friendly people who would still try to help you out even if you have zero french skills. i met many friendly people in shops where we communicated through a mixture of english, french and much pointing and miming. it was one of the many enjoyable asspects of the trip.
