Wednesday, July 21--Bern
weather- sunny and hot 30 C
We were going to save a trip to Bern for a rainy day, but since we haven't had one yet, we decided to just go!
We were actually glad for the 4 miles of arcaded shopping areas because of the shade. And shop we did.
This is a really nice trip from Kandersteg because it is only an hour train ride---and no connections! Just to keep us on our toes though, when we were all set to leave Bern, waiting for our train to come in on the proper platform, the one occupying it broke down. (Yes! A Swiss train broke down!) So at the last minute, when they finally figured out that the broke down train was not going to start up again, they changed our platform and we wound up scrabbling around anyway! |

volopolo Mon Mar 16, 2009 16:54 UTC Great picture of River Aare | Nemorino Thu Apr 10, 2008 15:23 UTC Albert Einstein stuck it out a lot longer than I did -- 7 years at Kramgasse 49! I lived in that same building as a student for one semester, but then moved to a place that wasn't so damp. Funny they only put up a plaque for Einstein and not for me, LOL. | dannebro Sun Dec 16, 2007 16:42 UTC Hi Rhonda, nice page, I am affraid they shall never stop holding these poor bears in the pit, it is so sad to watch them ! | hojasdehierba Mon Dec 19, 2005 02:30 UTC Good tips and nice pics.
