Blausee Things to Do Tips by Rhondaj

Oh look! A mermaid!
No matter how far from civilization we thought we were, we always managed to come across some art! Most of it made from nature. Carvings from wood, rock formations, twigs bent into a fashion, etc. So here we were walking over a cute little bridge above the lake, I look down, and see a mermaid! Or do I see legs? (Doubt my husband got past looking at the two turrets facing northward.)
Lots of paths around the lake
There were lots of paths around and leading off of the lake. We noticed that the paths (and lake too) had lots and lots of lighting. It must be really cool to be here at night when the wooded paths and the lake are all lit up.
If I ever come back (hope to!), I would consider spending one night here, enjoying a fresh trout dinner at the restaurant, followed by a beautiful nighttime walk around the lake, and above the restaurant there is a hotel where a cozy room awaits...
too old? never!
You can walk around the whole lake--it's really quite small. (Think pond more than lake.)
At the half-way point is this great set-up. There are picnic tables, grills for a cookout, but the best part is the playground! They had rides I'd never seen before. In this picture my daughter is on a merry-go-round that goes really fast and bobs up and down too. (I confess to riding this-hey! I had to even out the weight.) Besides these other two women (20 ish) were on this large disc thing-ee that balance on a giant ball. Hard to explain. There was a rock climbing wall that rotated on a belt. (took francs to make it move though) Also a lot of slides, one that ended in a pond of water. This would be a great place to picnic for the afternoon if you have little kids. (and maybe not-so-little-ones too)
Directions: directly opposite the entrance
Blausee = Blue Lake
We've been around lots of water this trip:
Oeschenin Lake
Dauben Lake
Thun Lake
Brienz Lake
Aare River
and more BUT
Blau Lake was definitely the bluest of them all. Simply gorgeous. Surrounded by forest, filled with trout and petrified trees, it was a delightful treat for the senses.
