Spring Break-Cape Coral, Florida I am in Florida visiting me mum. On the first day we went on an eco tour of the Caloosahachie River and San Carlos Bay. We stopped at a small little island for lunch. With just the right name: Picnic Island. It has a sandy beach, some scrub, some trees. And that's it. |
| | The Youngster Q One June day, a year ago as I was driving home after a terrible thunderstorm, a tiny kitten dashed into the road. I pulled over, scooped it up and brought it on home. I tried to find him a home, as we already have 3 cats. By time someone showed interest (2 days later) it was too late, Q had a name and was a member of the family! |
| | Kobi Bear He pretty much has a tennis ball permanently stuck in his mouth, except for when he gets bored and chews it to bits. Then he has to wait for a new one. The rubber bits are h*ell on the vacumn cleaner!
Kobi and Fiona are both Australian Shepherds, although they are from different litters. Fiona, the female, is alpha. Poor Kobi, his sister, Aussie, who died last year, was alpha too. He seems destined to always be the follower and obeyer. |
| Behind bars where she belongs |
| | Fiona Princess Fiona. Which came first? The name or the attitude of 'treat me like a princess' ? Fiona has to be first in all things, the most loved, given the most attention, and does not like to be disciplined. |
| Love me, or hate me, I don't care |
| | Miss Print-Turkish Van Any boxes, bags, suitcases, left around will become her napping place. |
| | Kimba the ginger tabby Kimba is the only boy cat. He came from a neighbor's litter. He is quite Garfield-like. He loves to eat and sleep. He's the only one of our cats that loves his belly rubbed. |
| | Raising Monarchs This was my fourth year raising monarchs. The caterpillar season is from late July through September. This species is unique in that the last generation of butterflies migrate to Mexico to overwinter. In the spring they fly northward as far as Texas perhaps, where the female lays her eggs. Each generation continues its flight north, as far as Canada. I collect eggs and larva from the last generation. It takes about a month for a full cycle- egg, larva, pupa, butterfly. |
