The World's Most Famous Tennis Courts

The Sacred Grass at Wimbledon

A view of the grass tennis courts of Wimbledon
A trip to London is incomplete for tennis players and fans without a pilgrimage to Wimbledon. Take a tour of the grounds and visit the museum but you don't need to bring your racket unless you're Roger Federer.

In the 2006 tournament, Zheng Jie and Yan Zi became the first Chinese to win a Wimbledon championship with their victory in the ladies doubles final. I believe some day a Chinese woman will also win the singles trophy, and a visit to Wimbledon is a great inspiration for all who dream of playing on the sacred grass.

Wimbledon is still worth a visit after the tourney

In late July after the tournament is over and the strawberries are moldy you can still visit the Wimbledon museum and gift shop.
You are still not allowed to walk onto the grass of any courts but a guided tour around the grounds allows you to still daydream that you are Boris Becker diving on the lawn for a point or Maria Sharapova trying to call her parents with a cellular phone.

The Wimbledon statue of Tim Henman

Just kidding, it's really Fred Perry. At least they named a hill after Timmy though, and put a giant screen TV there so people can watch him lose after the quarterfinals.
It's a statue of Tim Henman? No, it's Fred Perry.

Pros:"The new museum is outstanding, better than the one at Roland Garros!"
Cons:"The gift shop doesn't have Wimbledon trophy replicas"
In A Nutshell:"Still a must see in London if you love tennis"

So did you buy the mousepad? Someday I'll get over to Wimbledon to see a match...

Shouldn't it be Roger Federer or Maria Sharapova?
