Magical, mystical Bali. This island left a deep impression on me even though I could only see in shades in black and white after the demise of my mother. Now that the fog has lifted and I can see in colour again, I will describe what I have experienced over here.

Shortly after my mother's demise, hubby whisked me away to Bali to take my mind off the past 5 month's event. Of course, I did feel a little uneasy about leaving my Dad alone but my sister reassured me that it was fine and used my mom's old adage on me - Don't worry be Happy ! So off I went and took some time just to come to terms with my loss. It helped that the Bali was relatively quiet now and bit by bit, I came to and started to notice a lot of enticing sights and sounds interwoven with mythology. Of course, it also helped that we had a good guide, DeDe, who was well-versed in Japanese and English. He was patient, thoughtful and around the same age as hubby and myself. Along the way, he enchanted us with tales of the Ramayana and shared with us the local's perspective of the recent bombing. We enjoyed his company so much that we hired him for 2 days consecutively. When the last day came , we were almost sad to part but we exchanged pleasantries and I asked him for his name card. He fished one out and gave it to me. It was only later in the hotel that I saw what was written on the namecard and I cried. On one side of the card was the guide's name and the other was my mother's old adage - Don't worry, Be Happy.
I suppose all of this is pure coincidence but I'd like to think that this is my mother's way of telling me that she's alright and that she wants me to be happy. I'll try of course, how could I ignore her message? I spend my remaining time there enjoying myself and thanking my mom for her message.

What a beauty! It seems similar to India's BharatNatyam;a combination of expression, rytham and joy in dance.
