St Petri's spendid altar
After nosing aroung in Stortorget , we walked to the back of Rådhuset and found a 14th century Gothic church, St Petri Kyrka ( despite sounding a mouthful , it only means St Peter's church ). Though it looks dark and foreboding on the outside, it's all white and airy inside, a fine testimony to simple Swedish architecture. Perhaps the most ornate thing over there was the splendid 15-meter-tall, 17th century altar...
The church is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free.
Address: Located on Goran Olsgatan.

St Peter in Stained Glass, Malmo
Other than the lofty ceilings and ornate 15m altar, see if you can spot St Peter (whom the church is named after) in stained glass. He can be identified by the image of his martyredom on an upside down cross*. Click open the picture and you see the cruxifiction beneath the image of St Peter.
The church is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free.
*St Peter ( Jesus' disciple and first Pope of the Catholic Church) asked to be hung upside down on the cross since he felt unworthy to die like Christ.

The Windmill of Kungsparken
Now, other than this lousy shot of the windmill in Kungsparken and the chap suntanning on the homepage, I don't have other fantastic green shots to show for my checking out of the gardens and parks in Malmo. I'm more an arts person. Do yourself a favour and click on the link below. You'll find out why Malmo is called the city of Parks.
Lighting a Candle in St Petri
Before I left the oldest Gothic church in Sweden, I said my prayers, lit a votive candle and prayed that I could find Frosunda, the place where I was suppose to attend a wedding ( whereever that was ). It was interesting to note that the metal candle holder in St Petri was in the shape of a globe.
The church is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free.

Malmö Stadsbibliotek
I don't know why the Malmö Stadsbibliotek isn't featured as an attraction but any library that cost US$26m to build is worth visiting. Admitedly, Liz and I didn't know the actual cost of the Malmö City Library when we visited , neither did we know that the beautiful building was a library till we saw the sign "Stadsbibliotek". Since the word looked somewhat similar to the French word for library, we popped in here for the free email service, the sad cheapskates that we were. But as soon we visited the place, our breath was taken away. The library was so beautiful with the high lofty ceilings! Also, the high windows faced the park so there was plenty of sunlight and greenery. Come here to admire the beautiful architecture and ahem for the free email. All you need to do is to write your name in a book and wait for your turn.

Other than the The Museum of Technology. the military musuem also houses the Vagnmusset or the Carriage Museum. It displayed carriages from the 18th century, coaches, and even ancient motorcycles! Ha, my biker hubby would cry if he knew what he was missing.
Note: Received news that it closed down already.

Honey, I think I left the iron in the park
I know Malmö is called the city of Parks, but I'd rather call it the city of sculptures. There's lots of great artworks scattered around the city and waiting to be appreciated. If I were you, I'd print a couple of the artworks from my travelogue and hunt down the pieces in the city. Show the pictures to the locals and ask for directions. My bet is that you'll not only find the pieces but make plenty of friends by the end of the day.

Malmöhus Castle Moat
After saying my prayers at St Petri, Liz and I toggled off to Lilla Torg to have lunch. A cinch since that little square was full of restaurants. Fortified, we set off by foot to Malmöhus Castle, Sweden's oldest surviving renaissance castle and a monument from Malmö's Danish period. Hard to believe but this castle houses 4 museums on the inside! Yup, you can find the City Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Aquarium and Tropicarium, and the Konstmuseet inside. On the outside was the quintessential castle moat. The clear waters caught the odd-looking castle reflection splendidly. Yes, it is odd! From the outside, you'll see two massive drum towers looking for all the world like farm storage silos and strung between them a single slim building.

Ancient Harley Davison
Ha, this is what Hubby would have loved to see. An ancient harley davison . I'm willing to bet if this baby can run, it would make a helluvaof a noise. The Vagnmusset (Carriage Museum) had many more of these vehicles from the 18th century . Not bad considering that it used to be a former military horse stable .
