Luggage and bags: Get a sound backpack with double zips so that you can have the option to lock it.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Pack an extra pair of laces. You'll never know when those laces are gonna break when you're walking miles in them!

Photo Equipment: Get a lightweight, high meg digital camera with lots of 128mb flashcard/memory sticks.
There's really no point lugging a big SLR when you are backpacking.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: bring a can/bottle opener. You'll need it if you're buying canned food/ bottled beer for your meals.

Miscellaneous: Make sure you buy your Scanrail tickets before leaving for Scandinavia coz those tickets really cost over here! I was really happy to find out that most of trainrides were covered by the ticket, I only paid extra when I requested for sleepers.
