When hubby returned to Frankfurt after a short stint in France, I decided to stay behind to languish in her many museums . Since I always had to tighthen my belt without hubby , I had to search for an economical yet nice place to stay. Horrors! Would there be such a place in France? To my delight, there was. Grand Hotel Leveque was such a find and what was better, this little joint was situated in my favourite marketing street, Rue Cler, not too far from the Eiffel Tower. ( Ah, for those are you who know Paris well, marché rue Cler is one of the most vibrant neighborhood markets around town with lots of grocery shops and chic little delis.)
Unique Qualities: If you're ever here, look out for the tiny, ancient lift that runs the height of 6 storeys. It's so tiny that it can only fit one fat person at a time. Other than the lift, you'll like to know the condition of the room right? Well, I had a single with no attached loo. However, it was a charming little spot as it had a tiny French balcony, a tiny sink, cable tv, hair dryer and a comfy bed. How much more could I ask for 53 euros? On top of that, my first breakfast came free as I had a Rick Steves guide book..
